LEBANON, Ohio -- Allison Lindley again led the Ball State women's golf team Sunday with a round of 77 as the Cardinals closed out the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Lindley, a former Iowa transfer, moved up five more spots to finish in a tie for 11th place. The Kokomo, Ind., product recorded a 54-hole total of 235 (+19) in her first appearance at the MAC Championships.
Ball State finished ninth on the team leaderboard at 986 over three days at Shaker Run Golf Club. The Cardinals closed with a round of 325 that also included an 80 from Meghan McDougall, an 83 from Kelsey Sear and an 85 from Mary Ellen Romero.
Kent State held onto its overnight lead to claim its 17th consecutive MAC title. The 35th-ranked Golden Flashes finished with a 54-hole total of 918 (+54). Eastern Michigan was 10 shots back in second place after posting the best final round of any team.
Kent State's Josee Doyon extended her individual lead to claim medalist honors by five strokes over Bowling Green's Patricia Holt. Doyon's winning total was 222 (+6) after three consecutive rounds of 74.
This weekend marked the final event in the career of Ball State's lone senior Jenna Hague. One of the most decorated golfers in program history, Hague tied the MAC record with six career tournament victories, including the 2012 MAC Championship.
Hague became the second Ball State women's golfer to compete in an NCAA Regional, and her 77.22 career stroke average ranks second in school history. The three-time All-MAC selection will graduate as the school record holder for single-season stroke average (74.34 in 2013-14), 18-hole score (66) and 54-hole score (214).
