Track & Field Set For Saturday?s Hillsdale Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State outdoor track & field team returns to action Saturday, when it travels north to Hillsdale, Mich., for the 2015 Hillsdale Invitational at Ken Herrick Track.
Action at Hillsdale College is set to begin at noon in the field events with the women's shot put. Running events are slated to start at 2 p.m. with the women's 100m hurdles.
Saturday's meet will mark the third outdoor competition for the Cardinals this season, who are coming off a solid effort at the Miami Invitational (April 4). At last weekend's meet, Ball State's student-athletes tallied eight career-best performances, while logging 19 top 10 individual efforts. As a team, the Cardinals finished third out of the 15 scored teams at the event.

- Senior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus), who enters the week ranked third on the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Performance list in the long jump at 5.72m, will miss this week's Hillsdale Invitational due to an injury suffered at last weekend's Miami Invitational.
- An All-MAC Second Team honoree in the indoor long jump, sophomore Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) enters the week ranked 12th on the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Performance list in the outdoor long jump with a leap of 5.55m at the season-opening Bulls Invitational (March 19).
- Ball State's senior twin duo of Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) and Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) enter the week ranked seventh (11:17.79) and eighth (11:17.83), respectively, on the MAC Outdoor Performance list in the 3000m steeplechase. Caitlynn Edon's time set at last weekend's Miami Invitational was also a career-best effort.
- Ball State's battle for the pole vault record looks to heat up again this weekend with senior Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) entering the meet as the program's outdoor record holder after clearing the bar at a height of 3.72m at last season's Dave Rankin Invitational (May 2, 2014) … Ciasto-Poor also held the indoor record with a mark of 3.75m set at the Illini Classic (Jan. 17), only to have sophomore Elizabeth Eversole (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) break the mark with a program-record vault of 3.77m at the Ball State Invitational (Feb. 20) … Eversole enters the week ranked 12th in the MAC during the outdoor season after clearing a career-best outdoor height of 3.55m last weekend, while Ciasto-Poor is 14th with a height of 3.51m set at the season-opener.
- Junior Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) enters the Hillsdale Invitational ranked 12th on the MAC's Outdoor Performance List in the discus (43.87m) and 13th in the hammer (50.42m) … During the indoor season, Lumpkin placed eighth in the weight throw at the MAC Indoor Championship (Feb. 27) with a toss of 17.22m.
- Ball State's student-athletes have posted 16 career-best efforts so far during the outdoor season.
