Morrison Earns Second MAC Weekly Honor of Season

MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore guard Jill Morrison has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, marking the second time Morrison has earned the weekly honor this season.
With help from Morrison, the Cardinals clinched the Mid-American West Division Title for the first time since 2009 and the second seed in this week's tournament after scoring 19 points at Central Michigan Wednesday night in McGuirk Arena. Morrison went 5-of-9 from behind the arc against the Chippewas. She helped Ball State to their best conference shooting performance of the season, shooting 52.9 percent from the floor (27-of-51) while holding Central Michigan to 38.7 percent. The Cardinals went on to defeat Central Michigan 85-69.
On Saturday, Morrison was the offensive catalyst in a 71-55 win against Toledo, pouring in a game-high 20 points. The Winchester, Ind., native had a career-best six 3-point field goals on eight attempts and also added seven rebounds and four assists.
For the week, Morrison averaged 19.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists while shooting .632 from the field, .647 from behind the arc and went perfect from the charity stripe.
The Ball State University women's basketball team (17-12, 13-5 MAC) received a bye to the semi-final round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, which starts Friday in Cleveland, Ohio. The four-time MAC West Division champion Cardinals could face either No. 11 Kent State, No. 10 Miami, No. 7 Toledo, No. 6 Eastern Michigan or No. 3 Akron Friday at 2:30 in Quicken Loans Arena.
