Football Continues Future Scheduling Announcements
March 09, 2015 | Football
As Ball State football continues its weekly announcements in regards to future scheduling, the Cardinals and head football coach Pete Lembo will team up in recognition of the previously announced 2019 game at North Carolina State.
In honor of adding North Carolina State to the 2019 slate, Coach Lembo will make a donation to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research for each new season ticket purchased by 5 p.m. Friday. The mission of the V Foundation, started and named after legendary N.C. State men's basketball coach Jim Valvano, has been to save lives by finding cures for cancer. To date, the V Foundation has awarded more than $130 million nationwide for cancer research and related programs.
“I can remember watching Jim Valvano's teams at Iona when I was a kid growing up in New York,” Lembo said. “When he passed away due to cancer in 1993 it was a huge loss to the world of collegiate athletics. My wife, Jen, and I are happy to support the Jimmy V Foundation in conjunction with this year's drive for new football season ticket holders in recognition of our 2019 game against the Wolfpack.”
The game vs. the Wolfpack in 2019 gives Ball State non-conference games at home vs. Florida Atlantic Sept. 14 and at N.C. State Sept. 21 in that season. This marks the first time Ball State and N.C. State have met on the gridiron and the Wolfpack are the sixth current member of the Atlantic Coast Conference the Cardinals have faced. The last time Ball State played an ACC opponent, the Cardinals were victorious at Virginia, 48-27, in 2013.
Reserved season tickets are $111 and represent a savings of $51 off single-game pricing. General admission tickets are also available at $66 for adults and $39 for children, a 35 percent savings off single-game prices. All tickets can be purchased by calling 888-BSU-TICKET or by visiting the Worthen Arena Ticket Office.
Season ticket renewal information is scheduled to be mailed this week and will feature incentives exclusively for 2014 season ticket holders. Ticket prices for the 2015 season remain the same as 2014 prices and this year's home schedule opens the Thursday night prior to Labor Day and concludes the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. Ball State has four home games on Saturdays in October including Homecoming on Oct. 3 vs. Toledo and Family Weekend on Oct. 24 vs. Central Michigan.
Lembo, who enters his fifth season as Ball State's head coach, has guided the program to a 30-20 overall record, a 21-11 mark in the Mid-American Conference and a pair of bowl appearances. The 30 victories are the most by any Ball State head coach in the first four years of his coaching career in Muncie and Lembo's .600 win percentage is second best to start a career in program history.
Over the next two weeks, leading into the start of Ball State football spring practice Tuesday, March 24, Ball State athletics will be announcing details of future football schedules. Accompanying each announcement will be an incentive for fans to purchase new season tickets. Spring practice culminates with the 2015 Spring Game at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 inside Scheumann Stadium. All practices are open to the public and dates of the spring practices will be posted on BallStateSports.com.
