Soccer Gets Offensive in Two Spring Shutouts
March 29, 2015 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team outscored the opposition 14-0 Saturday afternoon in a pair of spring victories at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Cardinals opened the day with a 6-0 win over Missouri Baptist and polished off the afternoon with an 8-0 win over Concordia, highlighted by a four-goal performance from Kelsey Wendlandt.
Aly Kohanowski scored two goals in the victory over Missouri Baptist, while Madison Oyer, Lauren Hall, Abbey Fiser and Lucy Walton added one each.
“We really executed on what we have been working to develop, building from the back and moving forward into the attacking third,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. “I'm delighted in the variety of goal scorers we had today.”
In addition to Wendlant's four goals in the game with Concordia, the Cardinals also had goals from Walton and Fiser again, along with Elaina Musleh and Kalynn Flanagan.
“Kelsey is really developing,” Roberts said. “She was able to score a variety of goals from different positions on the field. We are continuing to work on consistently developing our offensive power while still limiting our opponents' chances.”
Alyssa Heintschel played both games in goal and logged a pair of shutouts. The Cardinals have allowed their opponents to score only once through six spring games.
Ball State will return to action April 12 when it hosts the Haiti Women's National Team for the third consecutive season.
