Track & Field Earns Six Top 10s To Open Bulls Invite

TAMPA, Fla. - - The Ball State track & field team opened the 2015 outdoor season with six top 10 efforts on the opening day of the Bulls Invitational hosted by USF in Tampa, Fla.
Redshirt junior Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) and senior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) led the Cardinals on the opening day of the non-scored meet with fourth-place finishes in the hammer throw (50.06m / 164-3) and long jump (5.72m / 18-9.25), respectively.
Ball State's lone career-best effort in the opening meet of the outdoor season came from sophomore Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) who posted a sixth-place leap of 5.55m (18-2.5) in the long jump.
Junior thrower Michaela Hull (Bloomington, Ind./South) was the only Ball State student-athlete to compete in two event, placing sixth in the javelin throw (33.45m / 109-9) and 15th in the hammer throw (39.35m / 129-1).
Rounding out the Cardinals competitors on the first day of the Bulls Invitational were junior Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) and sophomore Elizabeth Eversole (Mishawaka, Ind./Marian) in the pole vault. Ciasto-Poor placed seventh (3.51m / 11-6.25) overall, while Eversole took 10th (3.36m / 11-0.25).
Day two of the Bulls Invitational begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the shot put and triple jump. The second day's running events begin at 11:30 a.m. with the 4x100m relay.
