Women?s Swim & Dive Heads To MAC Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's swimming and diving team will compete in the four-day Mid-American Conference Championships at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. beginning Wednesday evening. Preliminary rounds start at 11 a.m. each day with finals beginning at 7 p.m., with the exceptions of the diving events taking place at 3:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as the 1650 freestyle taking place at 5 pm Saturday.

THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM RUN-DOWN
The Lady Cards are currently ranked eight among MAC schools by CollegeSwimming.com. Host school Eastern Michigan is the favorite heading into MAC Championships, while Miami and Buffalo are just behind the Bowling Green in third and fourth. Ohio, followed by defending MAC Champion Akron, Toledo and Ball State round out the rankings heading into the event.

LAST TIME OUT
Ball State concluded its 2014-15 dual meet schedule Feb. 7, in a conference loss of 188-112 to Toledo, finalizing a year end record of 5-4. This is an improvement from last year, as the Cardinals finished 3-6 before heading into MAC Championship action. Last year, Ball State finished eighth, while Akron grasped its first title in school history. Ball State marked two All-MAC First Team and two All-MAC Second Team swimmers in the process of earning one relay and two individual event wins. Bridgette Ruehl snagged the 100 and 200 breaststroke, while for the second year in a row four Cardinals took the 400 medley relay.
PRESEASON RANKINGS
Preseason polls had 2014 MAC Runner-Up Miami topping the rankings, followed by Akron and Bowling Green in the top three spots. Ball State rounded out the preseason rankings at eighth.
