All-Access: Volleyball Brothers At The Net

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State men's volleyball freshman Matt Walsh welcomed his older brother Bobby Walsh and a crowd of family to Worthen Arena last Thursday evening. Bobby and his team from No. 2 Lewis ultimately downed the Cardinals 3-0 (22-25, 16-25, 15-25) in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play, though the night marked a special evening for the entire family.
It was the first time in his collegiate career that Matt had to face off across the net from his older brother Bobby. The two are both in the national standings as Matt is first in the country in blocks per set at 1.79, while Bobby sits at third with 1.43. Overall, Matt holds 72 total blocks and Bobby posts 53.The stats are just as competitive between the two teams, with Ball State leading the nation at 3.19 blocks per set, while Lewis narrowly follows with 3.12 blocks per set.
Bobby and Matt's father, Matt Walsh Sr. also happened to celebrate his 50th birthday Thursday night at Worthen Arena and received recognition from the two teams on the video board.
