Lomax Wins Pentathlon To Lead T&F At Fred Wilt

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - - Senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) posted the second-best score in program history to win the pentathlon and lead the Ball State indoor track & field team at the Fred Wilt Invitational hosted by Purdue this weekend.
Lomax finished the pentathlon with a career-best 3747 points, including wins in the high jump (1.70m / 5-7) and shot put (13.40m / 43-11.75). She placed second among pentathlon participants in the 60m hurdles (9.20), 800m run (2:31.29) and long jump (5.12m / 16-9.75). Her time in the 800m run and mark in the shot put where both personal-best efforts.
Overall, the Cardinals tallied 13 top 10 finishes and 10 personal-best marks over the course of the two-day, non-scored meet.
Aside from Lomax, Ball State's best individual finish came from junior Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) who placed fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:16.45. Dahl also ran leadoff for the sixth-place 4x400m relay which clocked in at 4:08.17.
Ball State's runners also posted another solid effort in the 3000m run, with all four Cardinals in the race logging personal-best times. Senior Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the group with a time of 10:20.28.
The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action Friday, when it hosts the Ball State Open in the Field Sports Building. Action in the meet is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
