February 11, 2015 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State senior McCormick Clouser was selected Wednesday as the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.
Clouser won both of his matches at the No. 1 position in the weather-shortened Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla. He was one of only two No. 1 players in the field to go 2-0 for the event and the only one to do so without either match reaching the final hole.
The Bluffton, Ind., product posted a 4&3 win over Eastern Michigan's Brett White (No. 268 in the Golfweek rankings) in his second match. White was the second-highest ranked player in the field. Clouser's first win was a 2&1 victory over Seton Hall's Ryan Snouffer (No. 518).
Clouser has now won the league's golfer of the week award four times this season and five times in his career. He won it three times during the fall.
Ball State shared third place at the event, which was shortened to two rounds by rain. The Cardinals defeated Seton Hall in their opening match and then fell to top-seeded Eastern Michigan in the semifinals. The final round was not played.
The event was the first of the spring season for Ball State. The Cardinals will return to Florida next month to host the Talis Park Challenge March 15-16 at Talis Park Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
