- The Ball State women's basketball team is off to its best non-conference start since the 2006-07 season. The Cardinals improved to 6-2 overall, winning their fourth-straight after Ball State's 72-60 win at Lipscomb Thursday night in Allen Arena. Senior guard Nathalie Fontaine led all players on both sides of the ball after scoring a game-high 28 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Fontaine has scored 20+ points in each of the last four games. It is the highest four game scoring stretch of her career, scoring a total of 97 points. She has also had a double-double in each of the last two games, which is the 5th time in her career she has had a double-double on back-to-back occasions.
- Saturday's game against Purdue will mark the 25th time in program history the two schools have met with the Boilermakers leading the all-time series 16-5. The last time the Cardinals defeated Purdue was December, 13, 1979 by a score of 63-53 in Muncie, Ind.
- The Cardinals continue their three-game roadswing when Ball State travels to Purdue, Sunday for a 2 p.m. (EST) tipoff in Mackey Arena. The Cardinals enter the contest on a four-game win streak. Purdue has also only suffered two losses on the season after falling to Stanford in overtime (71-65), Nov. 29 and Boston College (58-56), Dec. 3. The Boilermakers are 4-1 in Mackey Arena this season while the Cardinals are 2-2 on the road.
- After seven games, three different Cardinals are averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Nathalie Fontaine at 20.9 points per game. Jill MorMoriah Monaco (13.4 ppg) and Jill Morrison (13.0) are also averaging double figures each contest. Fontaine is also close to averaging a double-double, pulling down 9.5 rebounds per contest.
- Head coach Brady Sallee emphasis how important points in the paint meanto him and the Cardinals have listened this season. Ball State has scored more points in the paint than their opponents so far this season. Ball State vs. Charlotte (30-to-8), Ball State vs. Western Kentucky (30-to-14), Ball State vs. Austin Peay (30-to-18), Ball State vs. Florida (42-to-30), Ball State vs. UMass (30-to-16), Ball State vs. Ohio Valley (62-to-10), Ball State vs. Butler (26-to-12) and Ball State vs. Lipscomb (30-to-14).
