A Look at the Cardinals
• Ball State welcomes an IU Kokomo team that is 0-4 after a 78-40 loss last Wednesday at Valparaiso. The Cougars will be playing their fifth straight game on the road to open the year.
• Ball State went 2-1 at last weekend's @EKUHoops Classic to improve to 3-2 on the season. The Cardinals dropped the tournament opener to Eastern Kentucky (89-81) but bounced back for wins over Longwood (78-67) and South Carolina State (72-60).
• After playing four of its first five games away from home (two on a neutral floor), Ball State is now home for eight of its next nine contests. The Cardinals have seven of their final eight non-conference games at Worthen Arena and will then play their Mid-American Conference opener at home, as well.
• Franko House has scored in double figures in four straight games for Ball State, while Ryan Weber made his debut last weekend and scored double digits in all three games at the
@EKUHoops Classic. Weber leads the Cardinals in scoring at 15.3 points per game, while House is next at 13.2 points per game. Bo Calhoun (10.2) also averages double figures.
• Calhoun owns two double-doubles in the early going to lead the MAC in that category. His 4.8 offensive rebounds per game lead the MAC and rank 13th in the country.
• The Cardinals shared the ball well last weekend with 18 assists against EKU, 16 against Longwood and 16 against South Carolina State. For the tournament, Ball State recorded assists on 50 of its 76 made field goals.
• Ball State played five games in the first 10 days of the season and will play nine times in the first 23 days before catching a week off.
Brotherly Battle
• Ball State sophomore guard Jeremie Tyler will be squaring off against his brother Jerome Campbell, a senior guard for IU Kokomo.
• The brothers, who are two years apart, grew up in Indianapolis and went on to play at Arsenal Tech High School.
• They also faced each other last season in Tyler's first game at Worthen Arena. He had a big night with a career-high 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting.
House is Money
• Franko House shot 74.1 percent from the floor over Ball State's three games at last weekend's @EKUHoops Classic.
• House was 8 for 9 against Eastern Kentucky, 6 for 7 against Longwood and 6 for 11 against South Carolina State.
• For the season, he leads the Cardinals and ranks fourth in the MAC at 63.4 percent from the floor.
Weber Debuts
• Junior forward Ryan Weber made his Ball State debut over the weekend and scored in double figures in all three games at the
@EKUHoops Classic.
• The Youngstown State transfer hit four 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 19 points in his first game Friday against Eastern Kentucky.
• He led the Cardinals again with 17 points against Longwood and capped the weekend with 10 points against South Carolina State.
Finishing Games
• Ball State's free throw shooting down the stretch played a big role in its wins in the final two games of last weekend's @EKUHoops Classic.
• Ball State went 10 for 10 at the stripe in the final four minutes Saturday against Longwood and 12 for 15 over the last four minutes Sunday against South Carolina State.
• Over the two games, the Cardinals shot 88 percent at the stripe (22 for 25) in the final four minutes.
Hitting the Glass
• Since being beaten on the boards in the season opener at Bradley, Ball State has outrebounded four straight opponents, including three by double digits -- Eastern Illinois (11), Longwood (10) and South Carolina State (10).
• The Cardinals are +38 on the boards during that four-game stretch and +35 for the season.
Creating Second Chances
• Bo Calhoun leads the MAC and ranks 13th nationally with an average of 4.8 offensive rebounds per game.
• Calhoun grabbed a career-high eight offensive rebounds in the Nov. 16 win over Eastern Illinois. The Cardinals had a season-high 18 offensive boards as a team in that game.
• Calhoun's eight offensive rebounds were the most by a Ball State player since Majok Majok grabbed nine against Oakland City on Jan. 3, 2014. They were the most by a Cardinal against a Division I opponent since Aaron Adeoye had eight against Miami on Feb. 4, 2012.
