The Cardinals Nest
- Ball State plays its second-straight Conference USA opponent when it hosts Western Kentucky for its home opener, Thursday in Worthen Arena at 7 p.m. This marks the third-straight year the Cardinals have played the Lady Toppers. Ball State enters the contest with an 0-1 record after suffering a 72-66 loss at Charlotte last Friday. Western Kentucky opens its season a week later than most schools when it comes to Ball State Thursday. WKU played its only exhibition Nov. 3 against Ouachita Baptist, resulting in a 108-43 victory for the Lady Toppers.
- The all-time series record between the two schools' is knotted at 2-2, with Western Kentucky winning the last meeting, Dec. 21, 2014 by a score of 84-59. Ball State defeated the Lady Toppers the previous season in Worthen Arena, 85-77. On Nov. 16, 2009 the Cardinals suffered a 61-58 loss to Western Kentucky in their home opener.
- Ball State is 5-0 when it plays on Nov. 19. The last time the Cardinals played on this date resulted in an 85-59 victory versus Evansville last season in Worthen Arena.
- Sophomore Moriah Monaco led the Cardinals with an 18-point performance at Charlotte last Friday night which is just one shy of her career high at Ball State. Monaco's 18 points in the season opener were the most points by a sophomore in a season opener since Audrey McDonald's 19 points vs. No. 21 Louisville in 2007. Monaco's 18 points were also the fourth best season opening performance overall since 2006.
