MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State sophomore Alyssa Heintschel has been named to the Academic All-District Second Team for women's soccer by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Heintschel, a product of Oregon, Ohio, owns a 4.0 GPA as a chemistry major. She was selected as the goalkeeper on the second team for District 5.
On the field, Heintschel ranks 35th in the country with a 0.674 goals against average. She has started all 19 games for Ball State and has played a role in eight total shutouts, including six solo. She has allowed one goal or fewer in all but two games.
Heintschel has helped Ball State to a record of 14-3-2 and the program's first Mid-American Conference regular season championship since 2007 with a 10-1 league mark.
The Cardinals are the No. 1 seed for the MAC Tournament and will host No. 8 seed Akron at 1 p.m. Sunday in the quarterfinal round.
Heintschel is the first Ball State soccer player to be named to the Academic All-District Team since 2012 when Skylar Chew was on the first team and Pavla Benyrova was on the second team. She is the 11th Academic All-District selection in program history.
