October 30, 2015 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Top-seeded Ball State will host Akron at 1 p.m. Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Tournament.
The Cardinals earned the No. 1 seed when they clinched the MAC regular season championship with Thursday's 1-0 victory at Miami. Akron was part of a four-way tie for the No. 8 seed and earned the final spot in the field based on tiebreakers.
The other quarterfinal matchups feature No. 7 seed Toledo at No. 2 seed Western Michigan, No. 6 seed Central Michigan at No. 3 seed Buffalo, and No. 5 seed Miami at No. 4 seed Kent State.
The Ball State-Akron winner will move on to face the Kent State-Miami winner. If the Cardinals advance past Akron, they will also host the semifinals and finals, Nov. 6-8. The winner of the tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Ball State and Akron met just last weekend in Muncie with the Cardinals earning a 1-0 victory. It was one of a program-record 10 conference victories for Ball State, which finished the regular season with a record of 14-3-2 (10-1 MAC). Akron ended the regular season 6-12-1 (3-8 MAC).
