Gameweek: Cardinals Looking for a Halloween ?Treat? Saturday vs. UMass
October 28, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State football team wraps up the month of October this Saturday with its final weekend game of the season. UMass will make a rare visit to Scheumann Stadium with both teams looking to fill their Halloween bags with plenty of treats.
Saturday's game will air on ESPN3 beginning at 1 p.m.
This is just the fourth ever meeting between the two teams. Ball State and UMass faced off twice in the 1980s and then again last year. The Minutemen joined the MAC in football in 2011, but are leaving the conference after this season.
Both teams enter this contest in need of a big win. The Cardinals (2-6, 1-3 MAC) dropped a heartbreaker to Central Michigan one week ago, 23-21, and have not won since rallying for a 28-17 victory over Eastern Michigan in week three.
UMass (1-6, 0-3) is still in search of its first MAC victory of the season. The Minutemen led No. 19 Toledo at halftime last week, 28-10, only to watch the Rockets storm back for a 51-35 win.
Turnovers could play a major factor in deciding Saturday's winner. The Cardinals have led or tied the turnover battle in every game this season and are now +6 for the year. Last week, the Cardinals came away with a fumble recovery and interception versus Central Michigan. UMass is -2 in turnover margin. However, the Minutemen forced three Toledo turnovers one week ago.
In last year's meeting, Ball State turned the ball over four times in a 24-10 loss.
Since Saturday is Halloween, fans are welcome to attend the game in costume. Please read over the costume regulations below.
