Pete Lembo Press Conference - Central Michigan Week
October 20, 2015 | Football
On the team's overall results to this point in the season …
Results haven't been what we want, but how dedicated [the players] are and how important this is to them is a pretty good thing. I have to find ways to help them play better, but we won't forget why we are here. It is about people at the end of the day and we have good people.
On coming up with big plays from the offense …
We have to find ways to get back to creating explosive plays offensively. We have been very good in those short yardage plays and even fourth down situations this year. We have to find ways to keep the chains moving when those situations pop up.
On facing Central Michigan …
Looking at Central Michigan, they are a terrific football team. They have played a very tough out of conference schedule and have come out very strong … They are a very solid team and very well coached. We have been in a bunch of close matches with these guys so we have to have a really good week of practice. We are in for a big physical test on Saturday.
On making potential changes to the defense …
A lot of times, you are tempted to make changes, but at the end of the day it's about what [the players] know and what they can execute. It's always a fine line of balancing that. You can't be identical and you can't be predictable because every defense has its weaknesses. If opponents know exactly where you are going to be and can create some match ups, that will be a challenge for you. You have to be multiple, but you have to be careful how much you do because if you water things down too much and guys don't know how to act, you're in trouble.
