KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Ball State men's tennis doubles tandem of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz lost in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional title match Monday morning against Indiana.
"The Indiana team played a nearly flawless match today,” Ball State Men's Tennis Coach Bill Richards said. "Credit to them. The first four games of the match went to deuce and we couldn't convert on any of those no ad points . Indiana really out played us from that point on.
Andersen and Stutz fell to Indiana twosome Sam Monette and Daniel Behdnarczyk, 6-1, 6-2. The match was the best of three sets with a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of the third set. The Cardinals reached the final match after knocking of host Tennessee's Jack Schipanski and Igor Smelyanski, Sunday by a score of 7-5, 1-6, 10-4.
"I am really proud of Lucas and Andrew,” Richards said. "They had a great run. To finish second in this very tough Ohio valley regional is a great accomplishment!”
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall action Friday at the Purdue Black and Gold Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
