Andersen, Stutz Advance To ITA Semi-Finals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Ball State men's tennis doubles tandem of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz have advanced to the semifinal round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals at the University of Tennessee.
The twosome took down Jorge Alfonso and teammate Eduardo Mena 8-2 in the first round of doubles. Andersen and Stutz then knocked off Morehead State's Sabastian Penaliza and doubles partner Nick Mercer, 8-3. In the round of 16 Andersen and Stutz took down Vanderbilt's Tate Allwardt and teammate Daniel Valent, 8-5.
Andersen and Stutz would start Saturday morning off with an 8-5 quarterfinals victory over Xavier's doubles tandem of Zach Mueck and teammate Matt Bishop, advancing the Ball State duo to Sunday's semifinal round. Andersen and Stutz are set to compete against host Tennessee Sunday at 8 a.m.
The Cardinals also competed in singles action at the ITA regionals. Stutz made it to the round of 32 out of 128 players. True freshman Nemanja Guzina is currently competing to advance into the quarterfinals of the consolation B singles flight.
The Ball State men's tennis team will remain at the ITA regionals hosted by the University of Tennessee until eliminated.
