T&F Heads To Bloomington For Gladstein Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action Friday, when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., for the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The meet kicks off Friday at noon with the 60m hurdles race of the women's pentathlon. Senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) is slated to represent the Cardinals in the pentathlon. The first round of field events are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m., while track events commence at 4:30 p.m.
Ball State student-athletes are scheduled to compete in seven events on the first day of competition and five events on the second day of action, which sees both track and field events begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Cardinals return to action after another strong showing at last weekend's Illini Classic, in which Ball State placed fifth among 10 teams thanks to one school record, six top five finishes and eight career-best efforts.

- Senior Hannah Ciasto-Poor (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week after posting a school-record effort of 3.75m (12-3.5) to place third overall in the pole vault at the Illini Classic … The mark topped the previous school record in the indoor pole vault of 3.65m (12-0) set by Lauren McNichols in 2008 … Last season, Ciasto-Poor set Ball State's outdoor standard in the event by clearing 3.72m (12-2.5) at the Dave Rankin Invitational (May 3, 2014).
- Junior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) and sophomore Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) enter the week ranked first (5.76m) and second (5.75m), respectively, in the Mid-American Conference rankings in the long jump … Both efforts are MAC Indoor Championship automatic qualifying marks … Crawford also ranks seventh in the 60m dash (7.70).
- After her first-place showing in the 800m run at the BG Opener (Jan. 10), junior Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) ranks ninth in the MAC in the event with a converted time of 2:14.89#.
- Junior Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) enters the week ranked sixth on the MAC performance list in the weight throw thanks to her toss of 17.09m at the Jerry England Alumni Opener (Dec. 6). The effort is .25m shy of the MAC Indoor Championship automatic qualifying mark of 17.34m.
- In her second high jump competition since suffering a season-ending injury late in the 2013-14 indoor campaign, senior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) successfully cleared a height of 1.68m at the Illini Classic (Jan. 17) … The effort currently ranks sixth on the league's performance list.
- Ball State's success in the jumps has carried over to the triple jump, with junior Zenée Gadson (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) and sophomore Gabrielle Perryman (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) ranking 14th (11.13m) and 16th (10.99), respectively, on the MAC's 2014-15 performance list.
- Ball State's student-athletes have posted one school record, 10 individual event wins and 28 career-best efforts through the first three meets of the season.
