Fontaine Earns Third MAC Weekly Honor Of Season

MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior forward Nathalie Fontaine has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, marking the fifth time Fontaine has earned the weekly honor.
With help from Fontaine, the Ball State women's basketball team has started MAC play 3-0 for the first time since 2008-09 after posting wins over Miami University and Western Michigan last week. Fontaine led the Cardinals in scoring against the RedHawks Wednesday night in Worthen Arena with a 27-point performance, which included a 10-of-15 shooting performance from the field. Fontaine scored 20 of those points in the first half alone.
On Saturday, the Cardinals hosted undefeated Western Michigan, which resulted in a 54-36 victory for Ball State. Fontaine scored 12 points in the win and she now has 1,219 points for her career and ranks 13th all-time in scoring for the Cardinals. She has now scored in double figures in 12 of Ball State's 14 games this season and has scored in double digits 68 times in 80 total career.
For the week Fontaine averaged 19.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
The Ball State women's basketball team continues MAC play Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Kent State in Worthen Arena.
