BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - - The Ball State indoor track & field team scored 78 points, and a pair of event wins, to capture fourth place at Saturday's BG Opener hosted at Bowling Green State University's Perry Field House.

Meet host Bowling Green won the event with 137 total points, followed by Western Michigan (120), Miami (101), Ball State (78), Toledo (68) and IPFW (20).

In addition to the two event victories, Ball State's student-athletes posted 15 top five finishes and seven career-best efforts in its second meet of the season, and first outing since Dec. 6.

For the second time this season, junior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) took top billing in the long jump, posting a winning leap of 5.61m. Crawford entered the event ranked first in the Mid-American Conference in the long jump with a distance of 5.76m at the season-opening Jerry England Alumni Open.

Ball State's other event victory came from junior Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea), who took home top honors in the 800m run with a time of 2:16.44.

The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action next Saturday (Jan. 17), when it travels to Champaign, Ill., for the Illini Classic.
