Women?s Golf Opens Season at Redbird Invitational
September 06, 2014 | Women's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. –The Ball State women's golf team begins the 2014-15 season Sunday when it tees off in Illinois State's Redbird Invitational.
It's a familiar setting for the Cardinals, which have opened at the Redbird Invite in each of the past three seasons. Their average finish in those previous appearances is third, and they finished second a year ago.
Jenna Hague won the tournament last year and will lead Ball State again as she begins her senior season. A six-time winner and three-time All-Mid-American Conference performer, Hague will be joined in the lineup by some relatively young players.
Ball State will feature a pair of sophomores in Iowa transfer Allison Lindley and Kelsey Sear. Freshmen Morgan Nadaline and Kayla Adamson will round out the lineup, while a third freshman, Mary Ellen Romero, will be competing as an individual.
The action gets underway Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 ET) at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill. The teams will play 36 holes Sunday and 18 holes Monday with live scoring available throughout the tournament at birdiefire.com.
The 16-team field for the event includes Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Butler, Central Michigan, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Loyola, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.
