Men's Tennis Closes Out Play At Ball State Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team ended its competition at the 36th annual Ball State Fall Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Senior Patrick Elliott fell to Dayton's Zach Berry 6-4, 6-3 in the final match of the Flight A bracket. In the Flight A consolation bracket, senior Ray Leonard took down his own teammate sophomore Patrick Downs in three sets 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Freshman Collin Rigney competed against Christian Gonzales of Chicago State in the Flight B championship but fell in three sets 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Newcomer Jan Jirus won the Flight C consolation championship over Dayton's Graham Reinbold, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action, sophomore Lucas Andersen paired up with Elliott to win the Flight A doubles final over IUPUI's Gerard Guell and Martin Muadi, 8-4.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall play Thursday, Oct. 16 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Nashville, Tenn.
