Soccer Set for Return to Action at Navy Invitational
September 10, 2014 | Soccer
The Ball State soccer team is headed to the East Coast this weekend for games against Delaware and Navy at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
It will be 12 days in between games by the time Ball State kicks off Friday at 4 p.m. against Delaware at Navy's Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Because of a weather cancelation last weekend at Valparaiso, the Cardinals have been off from competition since an Aug. 31 draw with Morehead State.
Ball State (2-1-1) will open the weekend Friday against a Delaware team (2-3) looking to bounce back from three straight losses.
Sunday at Noon, the Cardinals will face a Navy team (2-2-2) that is receiving votes in the national poll and defeated No. 24 James Madison last week. Live video for the Navy game will be available through the Patriot League Network.
Ball State features two of the leading goal scorers in the Mid-American Conference through the opening weeks of the season. Gabby Veldman and Abbey Fiser have each score twice to tie for third in the league statistics for goals per game.
The Cardinals will be facing both of this weekend's opponents for the first time in the 16-year history of the program. They will then return home to host Jacksonville State on Sept. 20, when the team will celebrate its Senior Day.
