September 10, 2014 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State senior McCormick Clouser was selected Wednesday as the Mid-American Conference Men's Co-Golfer of the Week.
Clouser tied for fourth place among a strong field at the Northern Intercollegiate over the weekend. He carded a 54-hole total of 2-over par 218 (72-76-70) at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. The fourth-place result was the best of his collegiate career, while his 218 total was two strokes off his career best.
The 13-team tournament featured 10 of the nation's top-100 teams from last season and five of the top 50. Clouser tied for fourth among the field in birdies with 12 and third in par-5 scoring at 7 under.
A second-team All-MAC selection last season, the Bluffton, Ind., product leads the Cardinals through two events with a 72.40 stroke average.
He shares this week's award with Bowling Green's Jose Narro, who won the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. It is the second career weekly award for Clouser, who won it once in the spring of 2013.
The Ball State men's golf team continues its fall season Sept. 20-21 at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind.
