April 28, 2014 | Baseball
Sean Godfrey, a senior outfielder on the Ball State baseball team, was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for his performance in the Cardinals sweep over Central Michigan last weekend.
Godfrey led Ball State to a series sweep over the Chippewas with his .389 batting average for the week, including four runs batted in, three doubles and one home run.
Godfrey hit a pair of doubles in Ball State's Saturday win over the Chippewas, while his third inning homer – his eighth of the year –gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in Friday's win.
This marks the second time this season Godfrey has been honored with the MAC's weekly award.
With the three-game sweep, Ball State improved to 30-14 overall and 14-3 in the MAC. The Cardinals moved ahead of Central Michigan in the MAC West standings, and now hold a two and half game lead over the Chippewas with nine league contests left on the schedule.
Ball State will play at Akron, Ohio, against the Akron Zips in a MAC three-game series Friday through Sunday.
