December 09, 2014 | Men's Basketball
NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Former Ball State men's basketball player Jeermal Sylvester has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2015 Silver Anniversary Team.
The 18-member team honors players for outstanding accomplishments as high school seniors in Indiana 25 years ago.
Sylvester was a 1990 Indiana All-Star after a standout senior season at South Bend Riley High School. He averaged 21.7 points and 13.9 rebounds per game that year for Riley's regional championship team.
He then played four years at Ball State, accumulating 1,238 points and 529 rebounds for his career. The two-time All-MAC selection helped the Cardinals to three 20-win seasons, two NIT appearances and one NCAA Tournament berth.
Sylvester went on to a professional playing career in France, Argentina and Singapore. He is now a College Readiness and Community Outreach Coordinator for Jobs for America's Graduates/Work One.
All Men's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's Annual Men's Banquet on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
A midday reception, free and open to the public, will be held at the Hall of Fame museum in New Castle. The evening banquet will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall, which is located on the south side of Indianapolis.
