Women?s Golf: Rain Stops Final Round at Bearcat
October 07, 2014 | Women's Golf
MAINEVILLE, Ohio -- Tuesday's final round at the Bearcat Classic women's golf tournament was canceled when unplayable conditions halted play late in the final round.
Scores reverted back to the only completed round with the Ball State women's golf team finishing in 11th place. The Cardinals had two players among the top 10. Jenna Hague tied for fourth place with a 74 (+2), while Allison Lindley tied for seventh with a 75 (+5).
The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes at TPC River's Bend, but heavy rain limited Monday's action to only 18 holes. The teams had only two holes to finish in the second round Tuesday when some of the course became unplayable from even more rain.
Ball State's 18-hole score was 317 (+29). The Cardinals finished 10 shots back of tournament champion and host Cincinnati (+19). Morehead State (+20) was second and Eastern Kentucky (+21) third.
The tournament format featured six players competing for each team with the top four scores counting. In addition to the 74 from Hague and 75 from Lindley, Ball State also counted an 83 from Karley Dobis and an 85 from Mary Ellen Romero.
Wofford's Lauren Dunbar finished as the individual medalist as the only player under par with a 71 (-1).
Ball State now has one event remaining on its fall schedule. The Cardinals will compete Oct. 17-19 in the Hoosier Fall Invitational at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville.
