Men?s Golf Ninth through Two Rounds in Florida

ESTERO, Fla. -- The Ball State men's golf team is in ninth place through two rounds after day one at the FGCU Classic.
McCormick Clouser leads the Cardinals individually in a tie for seventh. Clouser opened with a round of 77 but then fired the tournament's second-best score of the day with a 69 in the afternoon round. At 2 over par, he is four shots off the lead with one round to play.
Ball State bounced back from a team score of 315 in the first round by posting a 299 in the afternoon. Only two teams were better in round two -- No. 1-ranked Florida State (288) and Loyola (Md.) (294).
Florida State owns an eight-shot lead with a two-round total of 578 (+2). Florida (+10) is second and Loyola (+17) third.
Josh Lee of Florida State, AJ Crouch of Florida and Jeremy Wall of Loyola are tied for the individual lead at 2 under par.
Johnny Watts is the second Ball State player on the leaderboard in a tie for 39th at 154. Zach Yinger and James Blackwell are both at 159, while Michael VanDeventer rounds out the lineup at 163.
The final round will be played Tuesday at Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
