Cross Country Off To Notre Dame Invitational Friday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - In its first of two final tune-up races before the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championship, the Ball State cross country team travels to Notre Dame Friday for the 59th Annual Notre Dame Invitational.
Five races are scheduled on the day, with the Cardinals competing in the 26-team Women's Gold Race (5K) which is slated to start at 2 p.m. at the Notre Dame Cross Country Course.
There will be 18 NCAA Division I teams in the Women's Gold Race, including Mid-American Conference rival Western Michigan, as well as eight NCAA Division II, III and NAIA Teams.
Friday's meet will mark the first time the Cardinals have been entered in the Notre Dame Invitational since the 2010 season.
Ball State's runners are coming off a fifth-place showing at the three-mile Indiana Intercollegiate (Sept. 19) hosted by Purdue. At the event, senior twin sisters Courtney Edon and Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) paced the team by placing 15th (18:03.8) and 21st (18:26.3), respectively.
