MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's tennis team begins its fall season by hosting 11 opponents for the annual Ball State Fall Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
"I am excited for our fall season to kick off with our own home invitational, said head women's tennis coach Christine Bader. "This event showcases our facility and we encourage Ball State fans to come out and cheer on the team. We have expanded our draws and have several new teams coming to the invitational. The team has been working extremely hard, and is ready and excited about the opportunity to finally compete."
In addition to the Cardinals, other schools in the invitational include; Arkansas State, Butler, Chicago State, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, IUPUI, Miami University, Notre Dame, Valparaiso and Wright State.
The three- day event will kick off each day at 9 a.m. The format will begin with one doubles and two singles matches Friday. Saturday's events start with two doubles matches and one singles competition. Both the doubles and singles final rounds will be played Sunday.
The Cardinals have something new for Sunday's singles flight final, as they are welcome local youth to be ball kids for the match.
Following the Ball State Fall Invite, the Cardinals head to Wake Forest, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest Fall Invitational on Sept. 27-29.
Just a reminder if inclement weather occurs, the tournament will move indoors at the Muncie Northwest YMCA.
