CORDOVA, Tenn. -- The Ball State men's golf team was tied for fourth place Monday evening when play was suspended by darkness in the second round of the Memphis Intercollegiate.
The 16-team field completed the tournament's opening 18 holes and was deep into the back nine of the second round when play was stopped for the day on the par-72 South Course at Colonial Country Club.
Ball State turned in a team score of 309 in the first round on a cold, windy day and was 13-over on its second round with a few holes left. The Cardinals (+34) are trailing only Austin Peay (+23), Louisiana-Lafayette (+29) and Louisville (+30) on the team leaderboard.
The second round will resume at 8 a.m. CT (9 a.m. ET) Tuesday and will be followed immediately by the third and final round. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Joe Gasser, who carded a 75 in the opening round, is tied for third place at 5-over par for the tournament to pace the Cardinals individually. He is three strokes off the lead held by Austin Peay's Dustin Korte on the 7,334-yard layout.
Ball State's Tyler Merkel and McCormick Clouser are each tied for 18th at 8-over par. Clouser turned in the Cardinals' best first round with a 74, while Merkel bounced back from an opening-round 81 and sits at one-under for his second round.
Alex Stinson is 13-over and will enter Tuesday's action in a tie for 43rd place.
