McCormick Clouser Named MAC Golfer of the Week
February 14, 2013 | Men's Golf
Clouser, a mid-year transfer from Michigan State, posted a perfect 3-0 record at this week's Mid-American Match play to help Ball State to a runner-up finish as a team.
The sophomore, playing in his first event as a Cardinal, saw only one of his matches go all the way to the final hole. He won the last hole of that match in the championship round to claim a 2-up victory over Bowling Green's Chris Melvin.
Clouser needed only 16 holes to defeat his previous two opponents, posting a pair of 3-and-2 victories over Ohio's Mike Engleman and Eastern Michigan's Brian Burt.
The Bluffton, Ind., native helped Ball State defeat both Ohio and Eastern Michigan, 4.5 to 1.5, before the Cardinals fell in the championship match to Bowling Green, 3.5 to 2.5.
The tournament included eight Mid-American Conference teams and was played on the par-72, 7,153-yard South Course at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
The Cardinals are off again until March 10 when they tee off in the first round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in North Carolina.
