Leske and Owens Named to Preseason All-American List

MUNCIE, Ind. – Seniors Matt Leske and Kevin Owens were selected to the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American Teams as announced Monday afternoon. Ball State joined Lewis, Loyola, Stanford and UCLA as schools that had two selections to a Preseason All-American Team.
Leske and Owens were both named to the Preseason Second Team. Last season Leske and Owens were both named to the Volleyball Magazine Third Team All-America list after tremendous seasons. Leske was second in the nation with a 1.43 blocks per set average while Owens' .402 hitting percentage was the second-best clip in the country. Additionally, Owens was fifth in the country in blocks per set with a 1.33 blocks per set average.
Ball State will open up the 2014 season hosting two-time defending national champion UC Irvine, who had three players named to the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc., Preseason All-American Teams.
The 19-member voting committee was comprised of men's volleyball head coaches and volleyball reporters from around the nation. Off the Block is a national-award winning website that launched in January 2011 and has become among the nation's leaders in college men's volleyball coverage.
