Men's Tennis Continues Play at Fall Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team continued its 35th annual fall invitational Saturday. Junior Ray Leonard advanced to Sunday's semifinal match in the singles Flight A bracket.
Leonard went three sets against DePaul's Sten Leusink to advance to the semifinals where he defeated IUPUI's Jason Jaruvang 7-5, 6-4. Leonard will face Illinois State's Jacob Wilson in the Flight A finals Sunday.
Also in Flight A, freshman Patrick Elliott downed DePaul's David Vieyra in three before falling to Illinois State's Jacob Wilson in the semifinal round in straight sets.
n Flight B, freshmen Andrew Stutz, Patrick Downs and Matt Helm dropped their quarterfinals matches to DePaul's Adam Reinhart (6-4, 6-2), Marquette's Nick Dykema (6-0, 6-3) and Illinois State's Rolando Torrellas (6-3, 6-2), respectively.
In doubles play, Elliott and Leonard downed Marquette's Logon Collins and Kris Trukov, 8-2, before dropping the semfinal match to DePaul's Paul John and David Vieyra. Lucas Anderson and Austin Smith fell to DePaul's Filip Dzanko and Sten Leusink, 8-5.
Downs and Stutz advanced to the consolation final match in the doubles Flight B bracket and will battle Matt Helm and Adam Reinhart Sunday.
The Invitational will continue on Sunday, Oct. 6. The first serve is set for 9 a.m.
