Women's Tennis Ends Fall Tournament

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team wrapped up its annual fall invitational today at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
Freshman Ayaka Terashi captured a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Tuscany of Wright State in the consolation round of singles flight 1. In the singles flight 3 consolation round, freshman Courtney Earnest took a straight set match over Nini of Wright State. After a win over Louisville in singles Flight 4, senior Paola Rodriguez advanced to the semifinals but lost to IPFW's -Lindahl. Junior Kristel Sanders also moved on to the semifinals of her respective flight but lost to Louisville.
The Cardinals managed to post an overall mark of 7-3 in doubles play for the invitational. Sanders and senior Lauren Pickrel paired up to defeat Illinois State, 8-6 in the doubles flight 2 this afternoon while Earnest and Rodriguez won 8-2 over Chicago State.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action when it travels to Michigan State (Oct. 5-7). Head Coach Christine Bader and graduate assistant Whitney Wilson both played tennis for the Spartans.
