Field Hockey To Host Alumni Weekend Sep. 22-23
September 12, 2012 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey will welcome back its alumni Sep. 22-23 at the BSU Turf Field in what will be a fun-filled reunion to celebrate the program. The Cardinals will host Missouri State and Saint Louis that weekend and the alumni will also have a chance to go to the football game vs. South Florida.
"We are so excited to have our alums come back to Ball State," said head coach Beth Maddox. "Our field hockey program has such an amazing winning tradition, so it is important for our current team to get to know those who really put Ball State on the map. To be able to open our conference play with an amazing crowd will really set the tone [for the conference schedule] for our girls. I know we are all ready to show the alums how hard we have been working and to make them proud."
A luncheon will take place Saturday, Sep. 22 at the Alumni Center to honor former head coach Karen "Fitz" Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick had an overall record of 285-130-11 during her 20 years at the helm of the program. She earned MAC Coach of the Year 11 times and has been inducted to the BSU Athletics Hall of Fame. She holds a 129-21 record in MAC regular season play, a 24-8 mark in the MAC Tournament and went 3-4 in the NCAA Tournament.
Those interested in signing up still have time. The registration period closes this Friday, Sep. 14.
