As one of Five Teams to Watch in 2012
Ball State's men's golf team will compete at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday at Pinehurst No. 6 in Pinehurst, N.C.
Joining the Cardinals at the event are Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Old Dominion, Penn State, Richmond, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington, VCU, Virginia Tech and Villanova.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes Saturday and the final 18 holes Sunday. The event is scheduled to begin with 8 a.m. shotgun starts each day.
Ball State's lineup at the event is Tyler Merkel, TJ Carpenter, Tony Lazzara, Joe Gasser and Brodie Williams, while Alex Stinson will compete as an individual.
Merkel leads the team with a 72.27 average this season, while Carpenter owns a 72.73 mark. Stinson is averaging 74.40 through five events this season, while Gasser owns a 74.67 mark. Lazzara has posted a 74.67 average and Williams owns a 76.00 mark.
