T&F Opens Outdoor Season at Polar Bear Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's track & field opens
the 2012 outdoor season Saturday as the squad travels to Indiana Wesleyan's non-scored Polar Bear Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.
from the IWU Track & Field Complex for the third-consecutive season.
Last season, the Cardinals posted six event wins and 18 top-five finishes at the meet. Judah Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) stood as a top performer on the day for the Cardinals, earning first-place finishes in both the 200m dash (25.18) and the 400m dash (58.81), while Janae Taylor (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) placed first in the 100m dash (12.45) and second in the 200m dash (25.44).
Taylor also joined Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport), Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) and Ra'Jae Marable on the first-place 4x100m relay (48.15). Lorenz also tallied a first-place performance in the 100m hurdles (15.10), in addition to placing fifth in the 200m dash (25.68), while Lomax added a victory in the high jump (5-3).
From the 2012 MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Lomax stood as a top performer for the Cardinals in the high jump, posting six points with a leap of 5-6.50.
Freshman Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon High) followed with a seventh-place performance, clearing a height of 5-4.50 for two points, while the Cardinals' final top-10 effort of the day came in the 4x400m relay (3:52.00), good for eighth place.
