Tyler Merkel Named MAC Golfer of the Week

Tyler Merkel, a sophomore member of the Ball State men's golf team, has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.
Merkel tied for second at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate played at Pinehurst No. 6 in Pinehurst, N.C., last Saturday and Sunday. Merkel tied for second in the 72-man field with a 73-70-73=216. He helped the Cardinals to a sixth place finish out of the 12 teams at the event.
This marks the third time this season Merkel has received the weekly honor from the MAC and the fourth time in his two-year career.
Ball State's men's golf team, under the direction of head coach Mike Fleck, will return to action April 6-7 at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational at the ASU Karsten Course in Tempe, Ariz.
