Men's Golf in Fourth at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Ball State's men's golf team is in fourth place after the first two rounds of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at Pinehurst No. 6 in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Cardinals managed a 298-287=585 and is in fourth place behind only Old Dominion (574), VCU (581) and Virginia Tech (584). The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday.
Tyler Merkel is leading Ball State and is tied for fourth overall after firing a 73-70=143.
Brodie Williams is tied for ninth with a 76-69=145. The 69 by Williams tied for the third lowest round of the day in the 72-person field. It also marked a career low 18-hole score for Williams.
Tony Lazzara is tied for 17th with a 73-74=147. Joe Gasser is tied for 44th after managing a 78-74=152, and TJ Carpenter is tied for 49th with a 76-78=154.
Alex Stinson is competing as an individual and is tied for 17th with a 74-73=147.
Also joining the Cardinals at the event are Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Penn State, Richmond, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington and Villanova.
