Last Full Weekend for Field Hockey

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (3-12, 0-4 MAC) will host MAC foe Miami at the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex Saturday at noon before packing up and traveling to face No. 12 Iowa at 2 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals are coming off a split home and away weekend, having lost to Kent State 6-4 in Kent before traveling back to Muncie and dropping a 2-0 decision to Appalachian State.
Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes), Allie White (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) and Natalie Jardell (Granville, Ohio/Granville) have each netted five goals apiece for the Cardinals this season. Bethany Han (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) has tallied a team-high five assists on the season.
Defensively, Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) has made a team-high three defensive saves on the season. Maddi Elliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) and Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) have cumulated a 5.49 and 6.58 goals against average respectively.
SCOUTING MIAMI: The RedHawks (8-8, 2-1 MAC) are coming off a 9-1 win over the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Miami has five players who have scored at least five goals this season, including team-leading scorer Olivia Miller who has notched seven goals this season. Goalie Sarah Mueller has a 5-7 record this season and holds a 2.28 goals against average, having made 90 saves on the year.
SERIES HISTORY: Ball State is 45-18 all-time against Miami, one of its longest-standing opponents. The two squads first faced off in the 1976 season. The RedHawks took a 2-1 win last season in the MAC Tournament over the Cardinals.
SCOUTING IOWA: The No. 11 Hawkeyes (10-4, 3-1 Big Ten) had a split weekend, having earned a 3-1 win over Drexel before dropping a 5-1 contest to Penn State. Jessica Barnett has netted seven goals for Iowa this season. Niki Schultheis and Geena Lesiak have each tallied eight assists on the season. Kathleen McGraw has a 1.53 goals against average and has earned four shut outs this season.
SERIES HISTORY: Iowa holds the overall advantage 20-2 in a series that dates back to the 1983 season. These two teams met last season in Muncie with the Hawkeyes taking the 5-2 win.
