Play Suspended in Second Round at Yestingsmeier

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Play was suspended Monday night in round two of the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, the home tournament for the Ball State men's golf team at Delaware Country Club.
The second round of the individual tournament will be completed Tuesday morning, followed by the entire third and final round.
At the conclusion of round one, Ball State freshman Tyler Ostrom was leading the Cardinals with a 1-under par round of 69 on the par-70, 6,438-yard layout.
Ostrom was tied for second place as one of three Cardinals in the top 10. Tyler Merkel was tied for fourth with an even-par round 70 and Alex Stinson was tied for ninth at 2-over par 72.
Nick Huggins of Northern Illinois led the field after round one at 3-under par 69.
The other Ball State golfers in the field are Zach Yinger (73, T-14), Brodie Williams (74, T-19), Joe Gasser (75, T-22), Albert Jennings (75, T-22), Tony Lazzara (76, T-25) and James Blackwell (77, T-30).
In the second round, Merkel had the best round going for Ball State, getting his score to 5-under par through 16 holes before play was stopped.
The start of play was delayed Monday morning because of leaves and debris on the course from Sunday's high winds, keeping the golfers from completing all 36 scheduled holes.
Tuesday's action is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
There is no team scoring at this week's event, but 47 golfers are in the field from nine schools: Ball State (9), Bowling Green (4), Indiana (4), Iowa (3), IUPUI (10), Notre Dame (4), Northern Illinois (4), Ohio (6) and Toledo (3).
