Scouting Ball State: The Cardinals are coming off of a 63-48 Mid-American Conference West Division road loss to Toledo Thursday. Freshman guard Brittany Carter led the team in scoring against the Rockets with 18-points. Today's game marks the first MAC East Divisional team Ball State will have faced this season. Ball State is led by Jazmin Hitchens who is averaging 11.3 points per contest while Carter is not far behind as she contributes 9.6 points per game.
Scouting Akron: The Zips enter Sunday's contest with a 8-11 overall mark and a 2-3 MAC record after falling to Ohio University 72-71 in overtime Thursday night. Akron had been on a two-game win streak before its loss to the Bobcats after defeating Buffalo (91-82) and Kent State (68-62). Four players are averaging double digits for the Zips per game with Rachel Tecca leading the way with 17.0 ppg, Sina King (11.8), Taylor Ruper (10.6) and Jasmi Mushigton (10.2). Tecca also is the top rebounder for Akron with 7.6 boards per contest.
The Coaches: Ball State head coach Kelly Packard is in her fourth season at Ball State . . . Packard's overall record at Ball State is 56-58 (.491), while her Mid-American Conference mark is 27-26 . . . Jodi Kest is in her sixth season at Akron . . .
