McNeeley Named MAC Men?s Swimmer of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. - Senior Gavin McNeeley (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance during the 2011 Doug Coers Invitational Saturday and Sunday at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
The honor is McNeeley's first on the season and in his career after he tallied two individual event victories and combined on two Ball State relay wins and two second-place relay victories.
McNeeley posted a first-place performance in the 100 breast (59.11), tying with Milan Medo of Grand Valley State, before capturing a first-place win in the 200 breast (2:10.01) and a third-place finish in the 50 free (22.12).
He also joined junior Michael Weber (Lorain, Ohio/Elyria Catholic) and seniors Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Casey Schroeder (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger Memorial) in the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.83) to record Ball State's first victory and then on the first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:10.50) in the final event.
McNeeley, Weber, Krupa and Schroeder also combined to pick up second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:35.33) and 400 medley relay (3:28.53).
McNeeley and the Cardinals return to action at the two-day Eastern Michigan Invitational, starting Friday, Dec. 2 11:30 a.m. at Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Mich.
