Barnes Medically Disqualified For Her Career
October 10, 2011 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - Chloe Barnes, a junior guard on the Ball State women's basketball team, will not compete for the Cardinals this season due to a medical disqualification.
Based upon documentation provided by the Ball State physicians and medical personnel, Barnes has been granted a medical disqualification after experiencing persistent symptoms from her concussions, which do not allow her to compete in basketball at the Division I level. It has been determined she should be medically disqualified from participation, and the Ball State Athletics Compliance Department has confirmed the disqualification.
Barnes saw limited action during her freshman and sophomore seasons. Barnes was a big part of the Cardinals win over North Dakota in 2009-10 after making two three point baskets she helped the Cardinals to a 89-77 road victory over the Sioux. She played in 12 games for her career while averaging 1.4 points per game.
"I acknowledge the difficult process that has culminated in the reality of Chloe ending her collegiate athletic career," said head women's basketball coach Kelly Packard. "I am appreciative of Chloe's efforts toward our program, and I am pleased she will remain at Ball State as she completes the academic requirements for her degree."
