Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at Louisville Tourney

Ball State's men's golf team, coming off a second place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, finished in sixth place out of 16 teams at the Louisville Cardinal Intercollegiate in Louisville, Ky.
Ball State managed a 292-283-294=869 and defeated two of the three Mid-American Conference opponents in the field. Miami University of the MAC won the event with an 857, while Northern Illinois was seventh with an 872 and Bowling Green was eighth with an 874.
Eric Steger and Tyler Merkel led the Cardinals and tied for 12th overall. Steger managed a 72-72-72=216, while Merkel tallied a 74-69-73=216. Tony Lazzara tied for 38th with a 75-70-76=221, Alex Stinson fired a 71-81-73=225 and Joe Gasser managed an 81-72-78=231.
The event was played at the Cardinal Club and included Austin Peay, Bowling Green, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Marquette, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, Cincinnati, Louisville, Miami University and Wisconsin.
