Men's Golf Recruit Places Second at High School State Tourney

Connor O'Neal, a senior at Carmel High School who has signed a national letter of intent to attend Ball State University and compete on the men's golf team, finished in second place at the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Finals.
In addition, Ball State's other 2010-11 signee -- Tyler Merkel of Evansville Central H.S. -- tied for 17th at the state meet.
O'Neal shot a first round 65 to hold a one stroke lead after the day's first round. He managed a 70 in the second and final round to finish four shots behind the individual medalist.
Merkel managed a first round even par 70 and a second round 74 to tie for 17th in the tournament played atThe Legends of Indiana.
