Track & Field Wins Four Events At Pacesetter Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's outdoor track & field team posted four event wins and 15 top five efforts at Saturday's 2010 Pacesetter Invitational hosted by Indiana State. The meet was a non-scored event.
For the second straight weekend, senior Jenna Schmitmeyer (Celina, Ohio/Celina H.S.) won the 400m hurdles event with a career-fast time crossing the finish line in 1:01.14. The effort currently stands as the third-best in the Mid-American Conference this season, bettering her previous career-best time of 1:01.91 set last weekend at the Stan Lyons Invitational.
The Cardinals also continued to cruise in the 400m dash, as sophomore transfer Renyae Owsley (Indianapolis, Ind./Northwest H.S.) turned in a BSU career-fast time of 55.65 to win the event. Freshman teammate Judah Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain H.S.) also clocking in with a career-best clocking of 56.26 to finish second in the event.
Senior three-sport athlete Sarah Kehe (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) added a first-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase, logging a time of 11:52.19.
Redshirt sophomore Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) rounded out BSU's individual event winners with a first-place leap of 18-10 in the long jump.
In the 100m hurdles, senior Katie Johnson (Evansville, Ind./Harrison H.S.) added a season-best time of 14.30 to finish second in the meet.
The Ball State women's indoor track & field team now has its sights set on the 2010 MAC Championships, which will be hosted by Buffalo May 13-15.
